Halloween in 2020…
We love Halloween, and the thought of it being taken away from our kids was something we were not willing to accept! We’ve gathered some “Covid safe” ideas to outsmart 2020 and keep Halloween on track!
Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt:
This can be as complicated or as simple as you’d like to make it. We’ve created a free printable checklist for you to make it a little easier. For littles, have them search for one item each. For older kids, turn them loose on their own to find as many items as possible! Add an outdoor pumpkin carving party to the end of the hunt and you have just created the perfect fall day!
Socially Distant Candy Distribution:
Have you seen some of the genius ideas people have come up with?! We have been blown away by the creativity. These Skeleton designs in D.C. are amazing! If you live in a neighborhood where you typically get a lot of trick-or-treaters, ideas like these are a great option. Some other ideas we have heard: Lay candy on a long table for kiddos to easily grab and go, while maintaining distance. Use a long handled grabber tool (we found this one on Amazon) to hand out candy- this just sounds fun and hilarious too! Individually bag candy to make it easy to grab and go.
Get Creative!
Atlanta Parent suggested this genius activity: Reuse your plastic Easter eggs- Fill with Halloween candy and create a “Halloween Egg Hunt”! Brilliant.
Check out this brilliant idea (and others) from Seattle’s Child: Host a “Hocus Pocus” themed tea party.
The bottom line is, this year, Halloween will be extra creative, and maybe, just maybe, the best one yet!
As always, wash your hands, wear your mask, follow your local guidelines and stay safe out there!
