Collectively, we bring over 60 years of nanny industry experience
to Birch Nannies. We are able to pull from our psychology, early childhood education and nanny/house management backgrounds, to find the highest quality candidates
for your family and truly understand your specific needs.
Heather Schulz
Birch Nannies Founder
Hi Nannies and Families! Thanks for stopping by. I can’t wait to meet you and jumpstart a long lasting relationship with you! I’m originally from Chicago, the home of the best pizza, rowdiest sports fans, and the greatest of the Great Lakes. Chicago is a place that will always feel like home. I started my Atlanta adventure 7 years ago and I’ve been pairing up wonderful Atlanta families with our exceptional nannies ever since. I feel so blessed to now call both of these amazing cities my “home”.
When I’m not pairing nannies and families you can find me spending time with my pup Woodford, exploring the great outdoors, fishing one of the many local lakes, or traveling with my husband.
When match-making, I utilize my extensive industry knowledge by merging my psychology and early childhood backgrounds. I have over 20 years in the field with experience working as a nanny and household manager, and most recently as a nanny placement specialist. I truly understand what nannies and families value and need, and how to curate positive working relationships to ensure the perfect fit. My goal in this process is to make sure both the nannies and the families feel well heard and represented. I am looking forward to walking with you personally through our proven process.
Jess Sonnenberg
Placement Coordinator
Jess grew up in both Los Angeles and Nashville from an entertainment industry background. She is a nationally published writer and a world traveler. She carried out extensive international volunteer work including managing relief teams for natural disasters with projects mentioned on the National Geographic Channel and the Oprah Winfrey show.
In her childcare experience, she worked 15 years as a dedicated career nanny, including placements with higher profile households. Her special focus was in expanding food vocabulary to help get kids excited about trying new foods while making healthy choices an adventure instead of a chore - for both kids and parents!
With her well-rounded background, including being a wife and mother herself, she has gained the unique perspective of understanding the needs of large and small households alike. Jess has joined the Birch team to utilize her skills in helping families find the right candidate for their home.
Laura Masseur
Placement Coordinator
Laura spent her childhood in both New York and Chicago, eventually calling Atlanta home for the last 18 years. Considered “The Super Nanny,” by many prominent parents, she has professionally cared for children and families for 24 years including being a teacher, administrator, professional nanny, and house manager. She was also instrumental in establishing a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program in Mobile, Alabama, becoming one of the first volunteers to be sworn in, as well as a parenting coach and consultant.
She knows how incredibly unique the relationship dynamic is when it comes to bringing someone new into the home to help care for your dearest treasures. It is unlike any other employer-employee relationship dynamic there is. With this concept clearly in focus, it only made sense for her to move into another aspect of caring for families by joining the Birch Nannies team. She is excited to meet and help guide you along this journey.
