Airplane Etiquette for Littles

After a year of little to no travel,
we would probably all benefit from
an airplane etiquette tutorial!

This week, we’re sharing some tips from Sproutable on the importance of
role playing airplane before your next flight.

Are you embarking on your first airplane trip post-pandemic with kids? Maybe it's the first one ever with a little one. Young kiddos likely have no memory of airplane travel, even if they've done it so many times before. So how do we prepare them for this experience? Sproutable is here to help!

It may seem obvious, but loop the kiddos in! Intentionally tell them where you are going, who you will see, and what to expect. Read books about your destination or how you will be traveling (planes, trains, automobiles). Show pictures of friends or family you will be visiting. Then....role play! If they are old enough to walk, they are old enough to practice, and even younger kiddos still benefit from you talking through expectations on a plane…or whatever new adventure is being thrown their way.

How do you teach them about expected behavior on the plane?

What does it look like to role-play airplane with a toddler?

How do you stop them from kicking the seat?

How do you teach a squirmy toddler to keep their seatbelt on?
